“Possession” opens by scratching the delicate surface of who possesses or is possessed as a result of the revitalization of the bridge-and-tunnel community of Jersey City’s Bergen Hill section.

Exhibit opens October 5, 2008 (5-8 p.m.). On view through January 5, 2009.

Michael Lindwasser’s photographs of an urbanized and tourist-dependent Mexican city together with oil and mixed-media pieces by local artists explore the ever-changing urban landscape (first and third world) that, as per Justin Davidson, “toys with our sense of comfortable familiarity.”

This first in a four part series begins the conversation about finding sustainable means, through artistic activism and good design, to mitigate urban revitalization’s impact on the have-nots.
